What is the difference between exchange offices and exchange companies?

The exchange offices are not allowed to open branches or carry out foreign or internal remittance activities. Their activity is limited to the sale and purchase of foreign banknotes, banknotes and means of payment, which are issued in foreign currencies. They are formed in the form of joint-stock companies with a minimum capital of LE 400 million. (200) million SP in remote areas

     Exchange companies may open branches (they are obliged to open at least 3 branches) and conduct foreign remittance activities in addition to buying and selling foreign banknotes, banknotes and means of payment, which are denominated in foreign currencies. The minimum capital is 2 billion Syrian pounds.
